Give me your favorite vampy, wolfish, or witchy book recs!
It's too hot all the time and I need some Fall Mood reads to escape...
Current state of things…
I’m not going to whine too long. I live in Texas. I know to expect heat in the summer. But when I can count the number of days below 100 degrees since the start of June on one hand, I start to hardcore fantasize about chilly breezes, cozy sweaters, and nestling under a blanket with a book.
So this week, I’ve found myself craving one very specific zone of Fall Mood books: paranormal. Usually, I don’t get into this mood until the fall actually gets here. Autumn is my time for campus novels, scary books, and paranormal. But, I think because I’m so tired of the heat, I’m not in the mood for summer books right now.
Bookish help needed!
So, I’m asking for your help! I put a version of this question (specifically for vampire reads) out to my reader Facebook group, The Fearless Romantics, and have gotten some great suggestions, but I want more! :)
So, I’m expanding my request to include not just books about vampires, but also wolves and witches. I’m open to both adult and YA books. I prefer that there is some romance in them even if the romance is a secondary plot. And generally, I prefer the books to be set in the “real” world and not a pure fantasy universe, but I’m open if you have a great fantasy-world-set one.
Help a girl out. :) Do you have a witchy, vampy, or wolfy book or series to recommend to me? Click the comment button and everyone can benefit from each other’s recs!
In the meantime, I’ll be reading these because…Buffy.
On a different note…
A cookbook that is getting me through
My kiddo has joined the high school marching band and wow, y’all, I had no idea how much of a time commitment that was. For band camp, I’m having to get him there by seven in the morning, pick him up for a two-hour dinner break, then bring him back, and then pick him up at nine at night. Every weekday/night for two full weeks.
This has made getting dinner on the table and feeding everyone in a timely manner a challenge. Plus, I live in a small town that doesn’t have takeout options or fast food easily accessible. So, this cookbook has been a lifesaver this week. Dead simple ingredient lists and minimum prep. Plus, the recipes I’ve tried so far (Moroccan Tacos and Parmesan Chicken Burgers) have been delicious.

Stay a Spell series by Juliette Cross. It has witches, werewolves, vampires, and more. There are four books in the series so far with two more to come. They’re hilarious, sweet, sexy, and action packed.
Have you read the Discovery of Witches Trilogy (actually now 4 books) by Deborah Harkness? So good, I have read them all multiple times. Witches and Vampires!
