This series has become an absolute favorite! Do you usually work with a developmental editor? I saw that you recommend Dawn, is she who you worked with on these? I'm going to scroll down through your posts, but I'd love to read one about your work process. I'm such a nerd about hearing how other artists create. :)
Thank you! This series was published through a traditional publisher (Sourcebooks) so I have an editor at the publishing house. She does developmental edits then they also send it to copyeditors and proofreaders. Dawn is the editor for my indie projects like Good Girl Fail. Generally, I'm an edit as I go writer, which "they" tell you not to do but is the process that works for me. I don't do well with forcing a messy draft out--just doesn't work well with how I'm wired. I'm a slow writer and usually my developmental edits are very light because by the time my editor gets a book, I've reworked it and reworked it.
Having said all that, every writer's process is different and needs to be customized for how they're wired. (Which is why I'm now doing coaching. Because so many writers are told there is one true way and that drives me crazy.) Hope that helps!
